During these times there was no such thing as a take home drug test, so that parents could test their kids. Alot of the times parents wasnt even aware of the things there kids were getting too. To be on the safe side drugs like Marijuana and Cocaine did not have the potentcy as the miscellaneous drugs do today Due to science and medical breakthrus these drugs potentcy has been raised because of the healing and medicinal values it holds today. Although there is more peer pressure today that influences the mind frame of shaping and molding modern day teenage thought process. children today seem to be battling a more deadly disease substance abuse. whether you abuse alcohol, drugs or tobacco teenages seem to trying to find a away to break out of everyday life trials and tribulations. I feel that it is wrong for parents to go against their childrens privacy to drug test them at home. What does this say about the foundations of who we are and where we are going. Dont get me wrong if it calls for the child to be tested for instance if I was a parent and suspected my child at a young age was abusing drugs, I would try an intervention before testing my child. I would ask questions and want to know why does my child have to take drugs in the first place? Whats's wrong with my child that they feel like they need too, and what are they running from. it could be myriads of reasons why they might use them but to find out one would be enough to stage an intervention.
Although drug use is serious, the reasons may not be. Teenagers may use it just because its at their disposal. You are entitled to your privacy whether an ant, baby, child, pre-teen, or an adult no one likes to feel like their privacy has been violated. although the intentions are for the wellbeing of the child I think that if a parent wishes for their child to be tested should take the child to a health care provider, examples are a nurse, doctor, etc. That way the child still feels like they have their own space and it wouldn't destroy the parent and child relationship built on trust. One things parents enforce in their children is the act of a Child confiding in their parents about what goes on in their life, whether personal, financial, or social,. No parent wants to feel like their kid(s) cant come and talk to them about whats going on in their lives, whether the parents are going to agree or disagree. Bringing home a test for your child to take is like someone videotaping you in the privacy of your own home without ur consent, whether its good or bad its still feels like and invasion. Children have a right to feel this way as well no matter how old they are. Even our constitution provides us the rights to our privacy. For exmaple a police officer no matter how suspicious he may feel cannot enter your house unless he has an invitation by you or a search warrant executed and signed by a judge. I feel if you dont consult with your child first, you shouldnt do it.
For parents its hard to comply with not testing your child due to the fact that you have the world's toughest job or responsibility. Your job has a bigger requirement then going into work 8-9hr shifts a day. With parenting you cant call out. Parents worry about the daily obstacles life throws at their children, face first without you. Part of being a child is to learn and grow from your mistakes so that you can become a wise, experienced adult. Although parents try to make their childs life easier by talking to them and lecturing them about the hardships and virtues of life so that their child wont have to go thru it. well the truth is either ball life throws at you, you have to options either catch it and continue the game of life, or you can let the ball slip thru your fingertips and end the game. There are no rewards for being a good parent besides the fact that knowing you did the best that you could to raise your child right and to be the best person they can be in this lifetime. Children would no longer confide or trust their parents with information that involves their daily routine. Its easy to lose someones trust but its even harder to build that trust that you lost back up. Teenagers abuse drugs to hide or surpass something thats really bothering them, so to parents I know it can be overwhelming to find out whether or not your child is abusing drugs, but put yourself in your childs shoes."If the shoe was on the other foot would you want someone to do that to you.
